The MA Programme \u201cTheatre, Education, Society\u201d is offered by the Department of Theatre Studies at the School of Fine Arts, University of the Peloponnese. It is part of the University’s second cycle of studies, carries 90 ECTS, and is completed over three academic semesters. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded a qualification corresponding to Level 7 of the National and European Qualifications Framework, in accordance with Article 47 of Law 4763\/2020. The programme belongs to the academic field of Humanities and Arts, with a specific focus on the Performing Arts. According to UNESCO ISCED-2013 classification, it is categorised under code 0215 \u2013 Music and Performing Arts. In relation to the specialisation \u201cTheatre in Education\u201d, it is additionally classified under code 0111 \u2013 Education Science.<\/span><\/p>

The MA Progamme is part of the strategic development plan of the University of the Peloponnese. It is designed with academic and theoretical coherence and aims to advance knowledge, foster research and the arts, and respond to the educational, social, cultural, and developmental needs of the country. It offers advanced-level specialisation for graduates in both theoretical and applied fields, with particular emphasis on current research directions in Theatre Studies, Stage Practice, and Theatre in Education.<\/span><\/p>

The programme offers three distinct but interconnected areas of specialisation:<\/span><\/p>

  • Theatre Studies<\/span><\/li>
  • Stage Practice<\/span><\/li>
  • Theatre in Education<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    \u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    While each specialisation functions independently, they actively interact, intersect, and collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. The programme focuses on the relation between theatre and other performing arts and society, emphasising interdisciplinarity, research, education, artistic creation, and real-life application. It integrates academic study with applied research and practice, reflecting the Department\u2019s commitment to both theoretical inquiry and practical engagement. The creation of this programme builds on the Department\u2019s strong tradition in postgraduate education. It represents the continuation and unification of two earlier and highly successful postgraduate programs: \u201cDrama and Performing Arts in Education and Lifelong Learning\u201d (2014\u20132023) and \u201cTheatre and Society: Theory, Stage Practice, and Teaching\u201d (2018\u20132023). The new programme \u201cTheatre, Education, Society\u201d brings together the strengths of both to offer a comprehensive and forward-looking postgraduate experience.<\/span><\/p>
